This session will examine how technology can be used to avoid losses by detecting card fraud at point of application, or as part of the customer management process, prior to any fraudulent transactions being undertaken.

Use of stolen identities to acquire a credit card is still the main fraud method at point of application. However, Experian is also seeing first party fraud increasing as the effects of the economic downturn affect the person in the street, and we’ll discuss how this can be detected.

Account Takeover has risen massively, and Sleeper / Bust Out fraud remains a significant problem: some of the technology available to detect these fraud types will be explained.

Finally, we’ll look at how ID Fraudsters are changing their behaviour to target different segments of society as they continually adapt their business model, and how this might be built into scoring models to help identify fraud risk.
