Alastair SheenAlastair is a member of the MasterCard UK Fraud Advisory Committee and former chair of the Visa UK Risk Working Group.

As Senior Card Fraud Strategy Manager, Alastair has direct responsibility for the card fraud rules and strategies, balancing losses and cardholder experience across the 20m Credit and Debit cards issued by HSBC brands in the UK. He also has functional responsibility for the card fraud strategies of HSBC entities in continental Europe.

Previously as Acquiring Fraud Manager, he had responsibility for all aspects of merchant acquiring fraud policy, prevention, detection and investigation ranging from major corporates to sole traders.

He has worked for HSBC (Midland) for over 30 years and has 20 years of experience in a variety of risk management roles, encompassing fraud, credit and operational risk management. This has also included spells in Commercial & Credit Risk Training and Internal Credit Audit.

An Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (Institute of Financial Services), Alastair holds the Certificate in Bank Card Management and is a former Financial Ombudsman Service Banking Panel Advisor on card fraud and chargeback matters.
